Congratulations to Simon Wilson for winning the 2012 BDFA Cat A Foil Nationals. Simon also was runner up in the Mens Cat A Epee and came 4th in the Mixed Sabre.
AGM held some key points as follows:
Simon Wilson competes as part of the Paralympics GB Mens Foil Team at the Excel exhibition centre in the London 2012 Paralympics.
The Cornhill cup steam team foil event again runs at Rushcliffe Leisure Centre. Nottingham City enters three teams and the competition is well attended by fencers from within the East Midlands region.
The club secretary joins LOCOG as the Field of Play Group Leader for Wheelchair fencing at the London 2012 Paralympics.
The Nottingham Open runs again with club members again making up the organising committee and helping with the event. Thanks to everyone for their help in making the event a success.

Text: Members of Nottingham City Fencing Club, which meets at Rushcliffe Leisure Centre have been making their mark in recent competitions. In the East Midlands Fencing Championships, three of the five junior fencers came home with a first and two thirds from the East Midlands.
Oliver Wilkinson, aged 14 won a bronze medal in the user 18 Boys Sabre. Luke Rees(13), won bronze in the Under 14 Boy's Foil and Max Carty (12) took gold in the Under 14 Boys Sabre.
The adults were not to be outdone by the juniors in the championships. Eleanor Bryant took second place in the Senior Womens Foil, adding to her good results in Open Competitions, with other fencers from the club just outside the medals.
The club is unusual in that, in addition to a thriving junior and senior section, it also is a centre for wheelchair fencing. One of its members is Simon Wilson, the current national wheelchair Foil and Epee champion, who represents Great Britain in both weapons. He recently came third in the Challenge Des Joinville wheelchair Epee competition in France and is tipped to represent the UK in the 2012 paralympics.
Well done to those who entered the EM Seniors.
Good luck to the GB wheelchair fencers at the Malchow World Cup in Germany! Nottingham City has again been selected by the BDFA to run training camps for its high performance fencers during 2010.
Next month sees the Cornhill cup and members of the club off to Darmstadt, the Warsaw Wheelchair Fencing European Championships and the Maccabiah Games .
Club members entered the French Wheelchair Competition in Antibes on the Cote-de-Azur gettting a 3rd and 11th in the Epee.
Members of the club are off to Lonato Italy to support the GB wheelchair fencing team.
The club had an entrant in the Birmingham International Open and Crystal Team Open.
Next month will see us attending a wheelchair competition in southern France and hopefully putting out a team in the Crystal Open again.
Sunday the 29th will see the club attending a fun day laid on by Bolton Fencing Club.

The GB Wheelchair fencing squad again attended the Nottingham Open and ran a competition alongside the Open event.
Colin has passed his level 2 Epee coaching qualification adding another coach to the club
The club is partaking in The Epee League which is run by a commitee from the club and representatives from the clubs taking part.

The club had fencers competing at the Cambridge Winter Tournament
Several club members are off to Blackpool to compete in the Blackpoule unique tournament at the end of the month. Good luck to them all..
Next month club fencers are also off to the Hereford and Worcester. Anyone doing Mens Epee, Mens Sabre or Womens Epee who is interested in competing contact Colin.

Following on from the Summer Training Camp. The club has been asked to host a Wheelchair training camp during November in 2009. Watch this space for more info.
Next month will see Nottingham City involved in a friendly Sabre match with Chilwell blades, a demo at the Broxtowe sports awards, and the fixtures for the Epee League - www.fencingleague.co.uk will be posted.

Several Members of the club are running a demonstration at Ashbourne, Derbyshire on the 17th in conjunction with 3 Blades Fencing Club

The final weekend of the paralympic training camp will see a visit from the Mayor (of Ruschcliffe) and the club in association with 3 Blades Fencing Club running taster sessions throughout the weekend.
Anyone interested in wheelchair fencing should tune in to BBC Radio Nottingham on the 26th of August to hear interviews with the training camp participants.
The club again has the National Epee Wheelchair Fencing champion and looks forward to hosting the GB squad this month as part of preparation for the Beijing paralympics.

Congratulations to our New Coach who passed his exams this month after a lot of hard work.

Next month NCFC will be hosting a Wheelchair fencing training camp as part of Team GB's preparations for the Beijing Olympic games.
Nottingham City Fencing Club has agreed to host training camps over three weekends in August as part of preparation for our Wheelchair Fencing Athlete prior to Beijing. This camp will include members of the squad not going to Beijing and also regional fencers as training partners.
The camp will be the last three weekends in August (starting with Friday the 15th) and will be Friday nights 8-10pm followed by Saturday and Sunday.
The Cornhill Cup has had a lot of interest which hopefully will result in a good tournament for those attending.
The 28th will see the Club at Worcester for a team match with the GB Wheelchair sqaud. Two of whom are visiting on the night before for our monthly wheelchair session.
Next month we will have an Epee away match with Wingerworth Fencing Club . This will be on wednesday the 16th of July. Anyone interested please let Wilko know.
The Cornhill Cup steam team foil competition is now open for entry. The entry form can be found in the competitions section.
The club has been invited to a Team match at the end of June at Worcester with the GB Wheelchair Fencing Squad. Anyone from NCFC wishing to participate should contact the head coach.
The Cornhill Cup steam team competition is now set to take place on the 13th of July.
The club will again be entering a Team in the Crystal Open at the end of the month.

As usual the Nottingham Open will be running next month. The competition commitee (who are members of NCFC) look forward to seeing you at Harvey Hadden Stadium on the first weekend in March.

Thanks to those club members who attended the wheelchair fencing training weekend at Loughborough.
Anyone wishing to enter the Crystal Team Open should let the club know. The club entered a team last year and hopes to go one better by sending two teams for the 2008 event.
The usual watering hole will be shut for refurbishment during the last two weeks in February. Suggestions for alternative venues for the first week of this closure are welcome. This also presents club members the opportunity to purchase some pub tat on the last friday night before work starts. Don't know about you but I can't wait to grab a bargain!
Happy new year to one and all. The venue move to the main hall has so far gone with out a hitch and hopefully everyone agrees this is a step forward for the club.
The club has booked the main sports hall for 2008. The first night back January the 4th will be in the main sports hall instead of the current venue.
